Team Philippines finally scored their first victory for 2009 yesterday as Ruben Zaballa came up with a near-flawless performance as he clobbered Vietnam’s Tony Truong 7-4 in yesterday's 5th All Asian 9 Ball Tournament at the Centre Billard de Carougeois.
After an early see-saw battle that lasted until the 6rd rack and tied the score at 3-3, the tide suddenly changed as Zaballa slowly but surely took the succeeding racks to win 7-4. It was a breakthrough feat for Zaballa as this is his first All Asian tour victory.
The second match for the 3rd place also proved to be very exciting as Thailand’s Ken Nanakorn nipped Philippines’ Morris Leonor 7-6. It was a tit-for tat fight for these two master cue players which lasted until the final rack. But in the end, Nanakorn prevailed to the cheers of the crowd who all greeted him a happy birthday.
The next tournament, the 5th All Asian 8-Ball Tournament will be held on the 5th of April 2009, Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Centre Carougeois de Billard. To all our Asian players, fans and supporters--
Maraming Salamat!!!
