Val Arceo tops Christmas Tournament


Veteran pool hustler Val Arceo topped the year-ender Christmas tournament by demolishing Catherine Schneeberger 5-2 in the 29th Asian 9 Ball Tournament last night at the Centre Carougeois de Billard.

 In the other finals match, Ruben Zaballa lambasted Jimmy Menguita 5-3 to
win the 3rd place.

The Christmas Pool Battle: The 29th Asian 9 Ball Tour on 16th December

Come on Bilyaristas !!! Join the 29th Asian 9-Ball Tournament on the 16th of December, 2 pm at the Centre Carouge de Billard. The Philippine Billiard Club of Geneva will also have their Christmas party in the evening. All bilyaristas/pool players are requested to bring food and drinks for our Christmas potluck celebration. Mihai Straticiuc nips Ruben Zaballa 6-5, wins the 27th Asian 9-Ball Tour

Guest player Romanian Mihai Straticiuc played a neck-to-neck battle to nip Ruben Zaballa 6-5 in the finals of the 27th Asian 9-Ball Tournament at the Centre Carougeois de Billard.  Both players fought nail and tooth for every rack until the score was evened at 5-5.  But Zaballla missed a few shots which gave his opponent a chance to run out the last 4 balls to win the finals.

In the battle for the 3rd place, Portuguese player Elder da Fonseca tripped Jimmy Menguita 5-2.

Spookiest 27th Asian 9-Ball Tour on 28 October

The spookiest pool tournament reels off on the 28th of October at the Centre Carougeois de Billard.   This months' Halloween tour invites all the players and participants to come and play in their spookiest and creepiest costumes.

So, if you are Casper the friendly ghost, or Wendy, the good little witch, or Frankenstein, please come on and join our Halloween fun and bring your friends along.  The player with the best Halloween costume will be given a surprise gift.

Rookie Ed Giron de Guzman upsets veteran Val Arceo 6-5, captures 26th Asian 9-Ball Tour

 
Rookie Ed Giron de Guzman surprised the crowd tonight as he slowly crept into the finals and upset Veteran poolmaster Val Arceo 6-5. De Guzman played a tight match, he held on fighting rack after rack until they tied the score at 5-5. Then came a chance with a combination on the 9 ball which he took and this sealed his stunning victory.

Meanwhile, Nilo Teodoro lambasted Portuguese player Elder da Fonseca, 5-1 to take the 3rd place.

It's another Tour.  This time it is the 26th Asian 9-Ball Tour.  As usual, it will be held this Sunday, 30th of September, 2 pm at the Centre Carougeois de Billard. 
As in the past, the registration fee if 30 CHF and please come on time.

Val Arceo nips Joseph Sycip 5-3 to capture 25th Asian 9-Ball Tournament

Val Arceo nipped Joseph Sycip 5-3 in today's 25th Asian 9-Ball Tournament at the Centre Carougeois de Billard.  It was an exciting match as both players were at an even position. The first two racks was won by Sycip as he played flawlessly both in pocketing and positioning of the cue ball.  However in the 3rd and 4th rack, Arceo moved in for the kill and evened the score.  The 5th rack was again won by Sycip after running out.  But in the last two racks, the balls did not seem to cooperate with Sycip and Arceo took advantage of this to nail down his victory.

Battle of Pool Titans at the 25th Asian 9-Ball Tour on 19 August


After a long summer break, the 25th Asian 9-Ball Tournament starts again this 19th of August, 2012, at 2 pm, at the finest pool hall in Geneva,-- the Centre Carougeois de Billard.   Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 winners plus prize money. Registration will be 30 CHF.

Morris Leonor crushes Leo Barroga 6-3, captures 6th Ambassador's Cup- Philippine Independence Day 9-Ball Tournament

 
It was another fun-filled day of pool competition at the Centre Carouge de Billard as the veteran cue artist Morris Leonor crushed Leo Barroga 6-3 in the finals of the 6th Ambassador's Cup - Philippine Independence Day 9-Ball Tournament. Leonor easily took the lead through his perfect pocketing and ball positioning. The veteran was too much for the less-experienced Barroga.

Jimmy Menguita, on the other hand blasted “Balikbayan” Banjo San Pedro to win the 3rd place. Menguita, moved quickly to surmount the resistance of his opponent.  It was a neck to neck battle until the 5th rack but Menguita grabbed the last 2 crucial racks to win 5-3.

Again, the Philippine Billiard Club of Geneva thanks the supporters, players, and fans, for the succesful PID 9-Ball Tournament. We would like to specially thank His Excellency, Ambassador Evan Garcia of the Philippine Mission to the UN for his continuing support and  Mr. Gael Grosjean of the Centre Carougeois de Billard for hosting the tournament. Philippine Independence Day 2012 Invitational 9-Ball Tournament- The 6th Ambassador's Cup reels off on June 10




Now on its 6th year, the yearly traditional Ambassador's Cup Billiard Tournament reels off as part of the over all Kalayaan 2012 activities.  The Philippine Billiard Club of Geneva supports the Ugnayang Bayan's theme for this year "Tungo sa Pagbabago, Para sa Pagbabago". The PBC-Geneva, as part of the Filipino community in Geneva stands in solidarity with the Filipino people for real and meaningful societal change.  The PBC- Geneva would again like to thank His Excellency Ambassador Evan Garcia of the Philippine Mission for his continuing commitment to support this yearly Kalayaan Day event for our pool aficionados.

Jimmy Menguita wins 24th Asian 9-Ball Tour


Veteran pool player Jimmy Menguita crushed Joseph Sycip 7-2 in today's finals of the 24th Asian 9-Ball Tournament which was held at the Centre Carougeois de Billiard. Menguita advanced quickly by taking the first three racks. But it was really Menguita's perfect offensive plays and defensive safeties which limited his opponent to just two racks.

The battle for the 3rd place was more of a neck-to-neck battle as PJ Schatz beat Russel Alata 5-4.
PJ Schatz who is one of the top women players in the league, played her best by employing defensive safeties to finally win the match.

Asians to face-off anew at the 24th Asian 9-Ball Tournament in Carouge


It's back to the green felt table this Sunday, 6 May 2012 as the 24th Asian 9 Ball Tournament commences at the Centre Carougeois de Billard. The veteran players, Ken Nanakorn, Val Arceo, and Jimmy Menguita are again expected to race to the finals. However, anything can happen as the presence of other high caliber pool players like Leo Barroga, Ruben Zaballa, Morris Leonor, and PJ Schatz can turn the tables against the favorites.

John Torres slams Val Arceo, 7-1, wins 23rd Asian 9 Ball Championship


It was a one-sided battle as John Torres massacred Val Arceo 7-1 at the 23rd Asian 9-Ball Tournament at the Centre Carougeois de Billard. Torres started his blitzkreig attack by taking the lead in the early racks by splendid pocketing and perfect positioning of the balls. He was very much in control of the game as he limited Arceo to only one rack.

In the finals match for the 3rd place, Jimmy Menguita trounced Ken Nanakorn 5-2. Menguita who was considered the underdog, played one of his best pool games by combining offensive pocketing and ball positioning and defensive safeties.

Pool Sharks to Clash Anew at 23rd Asian 9-Ball Tour on 25 March


It will be another battle of the Asian poolsharks this 25th March as the 23rd Asian 9-Ball Tour reels off at the Centre Carougeois de Billard. Defending champion Val Arceo is once again the favorite to win this event. However, his nemesis Jimmy Menguita is ready to pounced back and wrest the championship from him. Thai pool veteran Ken Nanakorn is another person to beat as he has proven in the past that he is no push over.

Val Arceo blanks Jimmy Menquita 7-0 to capture 22nd Asian 9-Ball Tournament


Veteran pool player Val Arceo went on a rampage by crushing his arch-rival Jimmy Menquita 7-0 in the finals of the 22nd Asian 9-Ball Tournament which was held today at the Centre Carougeois de Billard.

Arceo played like a well-oiled machine pocketing and positioning the balls in perfect precision and playing good defensive safeties and taking rack after rack while leaving his opponent scoreless.

In the battle for third place, Nilo Teodoro nipped Catherine Schneeberger 5-3. It was a see-saw battle until the 6th rack as both players fought it out and was tied at 3-3. A decisive foul on the 8 ball by Schneeberger gave Teodoro a chance to sink in the 8 and 9 ball to take the lead. He put an icing on the cake by taking the 8th rack.

Centre Carougeois de Billard re-opens, 22nd Asian 9-Ball Tour returns on 12 February


The much-awaited return of the 22nd Asian 9-Ball Tournament will reel off once again on the 12th of February, Sunday at 2 pm at the newly re-opened Centre Carougeois de Billard.

After months of forced hibernation, the Asian Tour, organised by the Philippine Billiard Club of Geneva will again organise this regular monthly pool competition among Asian pool players.
As always, it will again be a day of exciting pool competition, with lots of fun and camaraderie.
