Raymundo Ruben wins All-Filipino 9 ball Tourney

Raymundo Ruben during this afternoon's All-Filipino 9-ball tournament at the La Sphère

Raymundo "Monang" Ruben captured the All-Filipino 9 ball tournament finals today at the La Sphère Académie et Centre Sportif. Ruben displayed his superb pool techniques as he bulldozed his way to the finals. Known as "Kilabot ng Las Vegas"("Terror of Las Vegas"), he then defeated 2nd placer Joseph Sycip 7-2 to easily win the benefit tournament.

In the other finals match Jimmy Menguita, last year's 9-ball champion showed his true form by beating Val Arceo 7-3 to land 3rd place. By the end of the game, it was clear that it was Menguita's accurate pocketing and position play which spelled the difference.

The organisers of the tournament, Ugnayang Bayan in cooperation with the Philippine Mission and Philippine Billiards Club-Geneva, the tournament coordinators Mr. Rudy Guacena and the PBC President Jerry Quinto would like to thank the sponsors and all the participants who in one way or another contributed to make this event possible. Special thanks to Ms. Lisa Daousis of UNCTAD, Ms. Tess Baarde of the Filipino Catholic Community of Geneva (FCCG), Ms. Shiela Droze, Mr. Harry Lacsamana of Haritz Media, and Mr. Donnie Mapanao of Migrante-Geneva. The proceeds will go to the Bantay Bata 163, a child welfare program of ABS-CBN Foundation.
