Philippine Independence Day Invitational 9-Ball Tournament at the Carouge Billiard Center on 8 June

Top cue players will face each other again in this year's 2008 Philippine Independence Day Invitational 9-Ball Tournment on Sunday, 8 June at the Carouge Billiards Center. At stake is the much coveted "Ambassadors Cup". This year's competition will be an Asian invitational tournament as to accomodate our Asian pool players who have been very supportive of the Philippine Billiard Club.

The PBC-Geneva is again inviting all our kababayans and other Asians to join us in an afternoon of fun and pool competition. A registration fee of 30 CHF will be charged for each participant. Aside from the much coveted "Ambassador's Cup", cash prizes will also be given to the top 4 finalists. We also would like to thank our Philippine Ambassador H.E. Erlinda F. Ruben beats Arceo 5-3, wins 2nd Asian 8 Ball Tour

Once again, the Filipino cue masters dominated the finals of the 2nd Asian 8 Ball Tournament today at the Carouge Billiard Center. Raymundo Ruben came out on top by trouncing Val Arceo 5-3. It was a neck-to-neck race from the start until the 3rd frame when Ruben broke away 4-3, then finished off Arceo with precised positioning and pocketing.

In the battle for the 3rd place, Rex "Banjo" San Pedro nipped Ambrosio "Boss" Reyes 5-4 in another tit-for-tat nerve-wrecking match. It was a see-saw battle all the way and the score was tied 4-all. Then, the breaks went for San Pedro after Reyes missed the shot on the 8 ball.

Ken Nanakorn captures 2nd Asian 9-Ball Tournament in an all-Thai finals

It was an all-Thai finals as cue master Ken Nanakorn beat his compatriot Mie “James” Udon 5-2 in today’s 2^nd Asian 9 Ball tournament at the Carougeios Centre Billard. Udon took an early lead by winning the first frame. However, Nanakorn took the second frame to equal the score. Udon then took the third frame but Nanakorn’s superb pocketing and precise positioning of the cue ball proved too much for Udon as Nanakorn took the last three frames thereby demolishing his opponent.

In the battle for the 3rd place, Val Arceo of Team Philippines crushed Liang Zi Yue from China 5-1 in another lopsided match. Arceo, the defending champion and winner of the 1^st Asian 9 Ball Tournament held last year succumbed earlier in the semi-finals to Ken Nanakorn thus losing his chance to retain his crown.

2nd Asian 9 Ball Tour reels off on 16 March

The 2^nd Asian 9-Ball Tournament will be reeling off on Sunday, 16 March at 2 p.m. at the Centre Carougeois Billard. Defending Champion Val Arceo of Team Philippines will be facing stiff opposition when he defends his crown against the cue masters from Thailand, China, Cambodia, Japan, and Vietnam.

The PBC-Geneva is again inviting all our kababayans to join us in an afternoon of fun and pool. A registration fee of 30 CHF will be charged for each participant. Gift prizes will be given to the top 3 finalists. Sycip bags Asian 8 Ball Tournament

Like a classic David and Goliath match, Joseph Sycip humbled the proud Josh "the Hurricane" Dias 5-4 to win the 1^st Asian 8 Ball Tournament at the Carouge Billiard Center in Geneva. It was a neck-to-neck race until the 8^th rack as both players had won 4 racks each.

In the nerve-wrecking final rack, Dias took the break and almost had a run out – pocketing all 7 consecutive solid balls but failed to get a good position on the 8 ball. He desperately tried to do a bank shot on the 8 ball but missed the shot. Sycip then pocketed all the rest of the striped balls in a successful come-from-behind rally before putting in the final 8 ball to the delight of the crowd.

Thai cue players Ken Nanakorn and Nukul Pantsom took the third and fourth place. The Philippine Billiard Club-Geneva would like to congratulate the winners and thank the other Asian players who participated in the tournament. We also would like to thank H.E. "Enter the Dragon Part 2" at the Carouge Billiards Center on 20 January

It will be "Enter the Dragon-Part II" as the top Asian billiard dragons will again be huffing, puffing and blowing each other down this Sunday, 20^th of January, 2 pm in the Asian 8-Ball Tournament at the Carouge Billiards Center in Geneva. The Philippine Billiard Club, who dominated the last Asian 9 Ball Tour will be led by Jerry Quinto and Defending Champion Val Arceo. Again, they will be facing a very stiff opposition from excellent and brilliant players from Thailand, China, Japan, and Cambodia.

Val Arceo tops Asian 9 Ball Tour, Pinoy cue artists dominate finals

The Filipinos dominated the finals of the 1st Asian 9 Ball Tournament as Val Arceo demolished Banjo San Pedro 6-1 in a lopsided final to capture the crown yesterday at the Carouge Billiard Center. San Pedro was no match as Arceo easily dominated the game with perfect ball pocketing and accurate positioning of the cue ball.

Meanwhile in the battle for the 3^rd place, the “mother of all miracles” occurred when Morris Leonor miraculously upset Jerry Quinto 6-5. Spectators were shocked and could not believe the mysterious defeat of Quinto.

Among the participants in the tournament included Long Phaly from Cambodia, Han Bin and Liang Zi Yue from China, Yoshi Hasegawa from Japan and Ken Nanakorn and Mie Udon from Thailand.

Jimmy Menguita blasted Josh Dias 5-1 to capture the Autumn 2007 All Filipino 9-Ball Tournament. It was a lopsided battle as Menguita totally dominated his opponent from the beginning winning the first 4 frames. Dias won the 5^th frame, but Menguita put the icing on the cake by taking the last frame.

Pinoy Cue Artists Prepare for Autumn 2007 All- Filipino 9 Ball Tournament

The Philippine Billiard Club of Geneva has announced that it will be having another billiard competition on the 14th of October, 2007, Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Centre Carougeois de Billard. Dubbed as the Autumn 2007 All-Filipino 9 Ball Tournament, this promises to be another exciting and nerve-wrecking battle among the very best Filipino cue artists in the canton of Geneva. Consul Jesus S. Domingo of the Philippine Mission has been invited to do the inaugural break.

Joseph Sycip totally demolished Morris Leonor 5-2 to win the annual Independence Day 2007 Ambassador’s Cup at the Centre Billard Carougeois. It was a neck to neck game with both players winning two racks each until Leonor scratched on the 9 ball to give his opponent a one rack advantage. Sycip then took advantage of this and wrapped up the next two racks.

In the other finals pair, Joey “Bataan Boy” Niespla blasted Frankie Federigan 3-0 to take the third place. Niespla seized control of the match from the first rack and never relinquished it all the way to the finish.

The Independence Day 2007 Ambassador’s Cup is an annual billiards competition organized by the Philippine Billiard Club of Geneva as part of the Araw ng Kalayaan festivities of the Filipino community. PJ Rojo captures International Women's Day 8 Ball Tourney

PJ Rojo blasted Cherry Ella 3-1, to capture the 1^st International Women’s Day 8-Ball tournament championship in yesterday’s finals at the La Sphère Billiard Centre. The young female cue artist from Baguio City dominated the table with her precision pocketing and superb ball positioning.

In the other finals match, Elsie Reyes took the 3^rd place by beating Natacha Equey 3-0. Reyes took no time in assaulting her opponent with blitzkrieg offensive plays that spelled the doom for Equey.

Yesterday, some members of the PBC-Geneva led by Jerry Quinto went to the Billiard Paradise in Pratelln to watch and support our very own compatriot Marlon “the Marvelous” Manalo compete during the last day of the 2007 Pratelln Open Billiards at the Billiard Paradise in Pratelln.

Manalo easily moved into the semi-finals, then to the finals. In his last game with Sandor Tots from Serbia in a race to 11, Tots swiftly moved ahead 10-4. But Manalo, to the delight of the crowd, took the next 6 games to equal the score 10-10. However, bad breaks came in for our compatriot and Tots won the last game to edge Manalo 11-10. Manalo settled for the third place behind Sascha Specchia and Sandor Tots.

During the breaks, Manalo and his wife Cynthia took time to have lunch and drinks with members of the PBC-Geneva. The group also had some photo opportunity shots with Manalo and top German cue master Ralf Souquet. Women's 8-ball Tour on March 8

In celebration of the annual International Women’s Day, the Philippine Billiard Club-Geneva, in cooperation with La Sphère Académie et Centre Sportif will be organizing an all women’s 8-ball tournament on the 8th of March 2007, at the La Sphère, 80-82 rue de Lausanne, 1202 Geneva.

It was "trick or treat" time at yesterday’s 2006 Halloween All Filipino 9 ball Spookout as Morris Leonor,the scariest of them all, dominated the pool tables and spooked Joey Niespla in the finals match.

Leonor, known as "Morris the Menace", bested Joey Niespla, 5-3, finals to clinch the champion’s cup and top purse. In the race for the 3^rd place, Frankie Federigan beat Boss Reyes, 5-1 in a one sided match.

It was Leonor’s 2nd title this year. He also topped the 2006 Summer All-Filipino 9-ball Tournament last July.

This year's 2006 Halloween All Filipino 9 ball Spookout was sponsored by Western Union. Western Union has just opened a new agent location at our very own Mabuhay Asian Store. "Sa Western Union, higit sa pera ang pinapadala mo".

The hottest billiard competition has just been concluded yesterday with Morris “the Menace” Leonor blasting Ambrosio “Boss” Reyes, 5-2 to capture the finals of the Summer 2006 All Filipino 9-ball Tournament at the La Sphère Académie et Centre Sportif in Geneva.

Leonor played superbly well in terms of pocketing and ball positioning. His flawless precision shots in the early racks guaranteed his victory over Reyes. Boss Reyes on the other hand just did not have the breaks nor the luck on his side.

In the other finals match, Jimmy Menguita beat Joseph Sycip 3-0 to take the 3^rd place. Menguita, last year’s Summer All-Filipino 9-ball champion easily breezed through the first 3 racks in a loop-sided match that showed his superiority as one of best cue artists in the Filipino community.

The heat is up as the Geneva community’s Filipino cue artists face each other again in the Summer 2006 All Filipino 9 Ball Tour on 30 July, 2006, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the La Sphère Académie et Centre Sportif, 80 rue de Lausanne, 1202 Geneva.

Top contenders who are expected to see action and dominate the tables are Jerry “The Master” Quinto, Raymundo Ruben, and Joey Niespla. However, anything can happen as players like Val Arceo, Frankie Federigan, and Jimmy Menguita have shown that they can also be a force to reckon with.

In the other pair of the final’s race, Val Arceo beat Joseph Sycip to capture the 3^rd place.
Arceo’s superb ball pocketing and position play from the first rack to the last rack assured him of victory.
